This is a dump of a lot of sketches I've been doing. Lately though, I haven't been keeping a traditional pen a paper sketchbook much because I've been doing so much digital work. If you notice that I've been doing A LOT of character work... well you're very observative haha! I did this on purpose in order to get better at them but I'll be going back to landscapes soon! (God knows I'm doing enough landscape paintings for work...) I'll explain the pieces in order.

1. I drew this batman sketch when I had a fever a few months ago and it turned out cool. I might go back and redraw my other favorite batman characters.
2. Was in the process of making a vector final fantasy black mage but meh.
3. Random creature?
4. Made Megaman in illustrator so I can get used to the tools again.
5. Big daddy animal? Maybe.
6. This was a failed personal project of mine. I was going to redo the nutcracker idea for christmas but I lost interest. That and I lost a bunch of work when my photoshop crashed. Damn.
7. Wanted to do a mermaid? Nope.
8. I was inspired by Samus for this one but it never went anywhere.
9. I found some cool brushes and some cool music. This was a great time to paint!
10. Finally, here is a peak at a project that I have been doing for the better part of a year with a writer. We're coming out with a children's book this year and it's going to be EPIC. I've been working hard to make this book happen. More info in the months to come.

So everyone decided that I had to carve a pumpkin, so here it is! Oh and the creature guy was just something that I quickly painted as I was playing around with the color dodge layer option. Nothing serious here but I really enjoyed the light effect I got on my jack-o-lantern.

Lillith "The Brawler"

Finally got to uploading this girl. Its my game concept I made for Vis Dev for Games 1.

Her name is Lillith and she is for a brawler type game. The story goes that one morning a king and his knights came to raid her village. Her husband was killed and her daughter was raped and beheaded before her eyes. She barely got away and spent years training to punish this king. She has set off on this journey and she will meet many obstacles.

I'm going to try to upload a "making of" post or video if I can figure out how to do it soon. My first concept looks terrible!

Click to enlarge. Nothing major today, just wanted to show my process of completing the album cover for Mike Ackman. I honestly believe this is really interesting to know.

1. After listening to Mike talk about the concept, I started to sketch out some ideas but I landed on the idea pretty easily since Mike was so specific.

2. Shot some reference and started to take some elements from the photos but the drawing was still my own.

3. First colors with some idea on how to show the money.

4. Started to define the man and had an idea to add more money and a directional light.

5. I felt like an idiot by now because I forgot to plan out the background! NEVER do this. I decided to go warm but I had trouble since I didn't plan it out. Got too excited I guess.

6. Decided to add lights to the money and by now I have a pretty good idea on how to finish this piece.

7. After a few more hours of rendering and happy mistakes, I got to the end!

Oh if you notice that everything looks uniform, you're right! I'm using the mirror effect in Adobe Sketchbook Pro!

I"ve been practicing working only in color and its harder but the end result is amazingly vibrant colors. Oh and I tried to paint a self portrait in a double-ish light source... yeah, I forgot how hard that was. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
